Subsonic 223 recipes 70gr4/7/2023 ![]() I then aimed at the top bullet hole and shot all the 5.0gr rounds. This photo shows my first two shots without the suppressor to check bullet stabilization. I shot groups at 50yards and the point of impact was exactly 2.0 mils lower than my full power load with Nosler 70gr BT's so that works well since I do not have to worry about windage at all. still to fast getting that crack.Ĥ.0gr averaged 1108fps and was definitely quieter without that crack but did have more horizontal grouping which easily could have been the wind as it was blowing 15-20mph left to right. to fastĤ.4gr of Trail Boss gave speeds in the 1240fps range. The below loads were with 55gr Nosler Shots bullets in LC brass and Tula primersĥ.0gr of Trail Boss gave average speeds of 1330fps. Yea I figure its going to be like shooting a bolt gun as I know they will not eject but I can live with that if they shoot OK and in the same general area as my hot loads which is my biggest concern. Groups do hover around MOA which is acceptable for the purpose. I cannot get these bullets to consistently shoot that well in my 6X45's. #2657794 - 03/18/14 09:14 AM Re: 6x45mm Subsįirst off if you can cover 5 shots with a dime I doubt any fine tuning is needed. The other thing is that I think running them in an AR in all likelihood is not going to cycle the bolt. The obvious caution, of course, is make sure the projectile clears the barrel. I don't know why that same technique wouldn't work with what you are trying to do. The idea was to find a powder charge that just barely cleared the barrel. If the projectile cleared the barrel, cut the load in half again. The idea was to take a powder that performed well, and cut it in half. Now, having said that, there was an article published in the NRA Book of Handloading for developing gallery loads in revolvers. I went on to other loads and haven't gone back to that one to "fine tune it" as of yet. It shot five you could cover with a dime at 100, and I dropped shot number four. ![]() It wasn't sub-sonic, but the load I used for the Nosler 55-grain SHOTS in my 1-in-11 BHW barrel was 24 grains of TAC. ![]()
